Major Project // Garter Lane Arts Centre
As part of a final semester major project, we were tasked with creating a design strategy for Garter Lane Arts Centre in Waterford City to promote the exhibitions of Sinead McDonald's "Uchronia" and Debbie Godsell's "The Infinite Whatever" due to open to the public on the 31st of July, 2017 running until the 28th of October. We were required to present an A3 poster, an A5 Flier/Invitation and a template that can be used following on from this exhibition. Along with the requirements, I chose to design a Facebook cover photo to be used by the Garter Lane Facebook account during promotions. In addition to this, I designed an e-vite, which would be sent out to every member of the Garter Lane Arts Centre.
I began the project by creating a moodboard inspired by the works of Quim Marin. I studied how he used colour combinations with the use of generic shapes to create striking and exciting posters with an emphasis on typography. Similar to what I was looking to create.
Next, a target market was needed. I created two persona's in order to study the target market I was aiming to attract and how that would go hand in hand with the demographic Garter Lane wanted to attract. I came at this from 2 different angles, the first being a young family, looking for a different type of day out. The second, being a V.I.P persona, ie. someone who would be familiar to the art industry and be a member of the Garter Lane Arts Centre.
- Poster Development.

- A3 Poster.
